Tour de Falls

Urban youth in Cincinnati face many negative pressures in their environment and are not often given the opportunity to experience the world outside the city. Tour de Falls, a 500 mile, eight-day bike trip from Loveland Bike Trail in Ohio to Niagara Falls, helps youth face and overcome challenges and build relationships with caring adult mentors.

Participating youth ride 70-80 miles a day. Experienced adult mentors ride alongside the them, encouraging them one pedal at a time. Each day of the trip also has time scheduled for swimming, learning opportunities and group interactions. Vehicles follow the riders and provide food, water, emergency aid, equipment repair, and encouragement.

At the end of the 500 mile trip, medals are awarded to each rider. The aches are soon forgotten as each rider shares in the completion of the challenge. The teens find the inner strength to go beyond their self-imposed boundaries and find confidence and joy in discovering that they have the ability to overcome life’s challenges to reach their goals.
